Mac OS 10.5 and 10.6

These instructions apply if you are running Mac OS 10.5 Leopard or 10.6 Snow Leopard. If you are running 10.7 Lion or later then see the Mac OS X 10.7 and above page

There are two situations covered in this page, configuring a new VPN setup and migrating from the old VPDN service.

New setup

  1. Download the Cisco client for the UIS VPN service from this link BLAH
  2. Open the disk image and install the Cisco software package
  3. From the Applications folder open CiscoVPN
  4. Choose the Certificates pane and pick Import.
  5. Navigate to the CLIENTCERT.P12 file on the downloaded disk image and follow the steps to import it.
  6. Now repeat the previous step to import the CAROOT.P7B file
  7. Select the Connection Entries pane and choose Import
  8. Navigate to the CONNECTION.PCF file and follow the steps to import it.
  9. Ensure BLAH is highlighted and click Connect.
  10. Enter your VPN username and password when prompted
  11. If the connection was successful then "Connected to Information Services VPN" will be displayed in the bottom left.
  12. Click Disconnect when you have finished.

Migrating from the old VPDN service

If you have been using the old VPDN service and wish to migrate to the new UIS VPN service then follow these instructions:

  1. Download the supplemental config files from BLAH
  2. Open the downloaded disk image
  3. From the Applications folder open VPNClient
  4. Choose the Certificates pane and pick Import.
  5. Navigate to the CLIENTCERT.P12 file on the downloaded disk image and follow the steps to import it.
  6. Now repeat the previous step to import the CAROOT.P7B file
  7. Select the Connection Entries pane and choose Import
  8. Navigate to the CONNECTION.PCF file and follow the steps to import it.
  9. Select the OLDONE and pick Delete
  10. Ensure BLAH is highlighted and click Connect.
  11. Enter your VPN username and password when prompted
  12. If the connection was successful then "Connected to Information Services VPN" will be displayed in the bottom left.
  13. Click Disconnect when you have finished.
