Institutionally Managed MCS Rooms

For institutionally managed MCS room support please see local support staff in the relevant college, department or institution. Here is a current list of institutionally managed MCS sites

UIS Managed MCS Rooms

UIS managed MCS rooms:

  • Titan Teaching Room 1 and 2
  • Phoenix Teaching Room 1 and 2
  • Ryle Room, University Centre

Opening Hours

  • On New Museums Site, the Phoenix Teaching Rooms and Titan Teaching Rooms are available 24/7, with card access between 22:00-08:00. Request card access from UIS Reception, open 08:30-17:00 Monday-Friday (3)34600, . Security provides site access from Corn Exchange Street.
  • The University Centre Ryle room is available during the opening hours of the University Centre, for those entitled to use the Centre.

Printing

Printers are available in each of the UIS Managed Cluster rooms. DS Print for Users.

Scanning

PCs: Epson Perfections, available at the following locations:

  • Phoenix Teaching Room 2, Phoenix Building, New Museums Site (includes a multipage feeder)
  • Titan Teaching Room 1, New Museums Site (includes a multipage feeder)
  • Titan Teaching Room 2, New Museums Site
  • University Centre

Macs: Epson Perfections, available at the following locations:

  • Phoenix Teaching Room 2, Phoenix Building, New Museums Site

The scanners run three types of software package to meet different scanning needs:

  • a basic scanning program (ImageCapture on the Macs and Epson Scan on the PCs)
  • a text recognition program (Optical Character Recognition, or OCR) which can convert scanned text into a format that can be edited with a word-processing program (ImageCapture on the Macs and FineReader on the PCs)
  • a program that can manipulate scanned images (Photoshop)
